I need help in finding a doctor here in cleveland ohio that is not scared to write for pain meds.I suffer from fibromyalgia and 3 ruptured disc from having my 10 month old.I have 3 kids my youngest being 10 months old and it takes a toll on me everyday picking him up.I work and have wonderful insurance and have seen some doctors here but they are only willing to give me tramadol which does nothing for the pain and lyrica which makes me so dizzy and drunk feeling to where I am scared to even pick my baby up and it doesnt help the fibro pain at all or the back pain. Before moving here I lived in TN and went to a pain clinic where they gave me meds that really worked for my pain.I was given Oxy 80mg and roxicodone 30mg and that combo really really worked well for me.All I am asking is if anyone is in the cleveland ohio area and knows of a doctor who will treat me with the medical records that i have could you please let me know? thanks |

hello: I am sorry for what you are going through! i wish i could help you myself. i live in the Southern Maine area and i too need a doctor who will prescribe. i was going to a clinic and my provider just stopped prescribe'n to me because i did not want any more steroid injections and i did not want him to do a radio frequency lesioning either. but i did agree to a spinal implant. for the last couple months when i would see him he would have a different reason why he wanted to reduce or even stop my medications. i just saw him a few days ago and he would not discuss my situation with me at all. he just said the medications were no longer working for me and he has taken them all away. i told him the meds reduce my pain by 70 to 85% and that they help me more than words could express but he just didn't care. i believe he is under pressure by his boss and the clinic to do injections and procedures and because i don't want certain ones and because i have already had 10 injections in less than a year he got rid of me. i know a lot of people would find this hard to believe but i swear on my life it is true. i am alone and scared. i do not care about being sick. i care about being in pain and having to give up my life again because my pain will not be under control. when i am medicated i can work, play, love and enjoy my life! i do not understand how one human being can do this to an other. if you are in my area please, if you know a doctor who isn't afraid to help please let me know. i have extensive medical records. i am a good, decent and honest person and i just want to be able to be happy and enjoy my life. thank you! as to the lady above, i know a website that provides a list of patient rated dr's in all areas. so, if you write to me i can email the site to you. i do not know if i am allowed to post it on here and i don't want to upset anyone. i have used it myself and found the provider on it who just dropped me. but don't let that deter you. one has nothing to do with the other. be well. god bless us all __________________ Carpe Diem |

I think I can help both of you that posted regarding finding doctors that will prescribe pain meds that we need in order to be able to just live a life without so much pain. First I must defend the docs to a point, who do not want to write scripts for your pain. You must understand what kind of pressure and responsibility giving out scripts. Their license's are on the line for one, they have to be certified if they are going to be giving out pain meds to one patient longer than the usual 2 to 3 months. They are also answerable to the DEA which is a scary thing and they are held responsible if the patient misuses the meds. That is why so many docs are hesitant to give pain meds out on a regular basis. Now, on to what we have to face.
As we all know, there is no amount of pain meds, aside from making us sleep all the time, that will take the pain away 100%. I live in Oregon and in 2003 I fell off a ladder at work and broke my back along with damaging some nerves in my low back. I have been on pain meds since and did go through a bout with my doctor regarding stopping the pain meds. What my doctor did that yours doesn't deem necessary to tell you. So, here it is what I had to do. There is a specialty in the medical field of doctors that specialize in giving out and monitoring pain meds. These doctors have studied the affects of pain on the human body and are not afraid to use them to help you. They are listed under pain management, or some reference to pain in the yellow pages. Look for one in your town or in a town closest to you and have your doctor refer you. Be assured that he/she will be glad to have you going to the pain management doctor which takes having to deal with your pain away from him/her. Now, you must be clear on this: You will be required to submit to a spontaneous UA at anytime the doctor requires it. They will also require blood tests to make sure that you are taking the meds they are prescribing and in the right dosage. These things are small potatoes compared to having to deal with chronic pain 24/7. Hope this helps. |
